Dating to around 3500 BCE, the “Polish Pyramids” were constructed of megalithic stones in elongated triangular shapes and often covered in dirt.

Led by archaeologist Dr. Danuta Żurkiewicz and Dr. Iwona Sobkowiak-Tabaka from Adam Mickiewicz University, the team identified that the openings were east-facing, common in megalithic architecture across Europe.
