PSA BDP, a leading provider of global logistics and supply chain solutions, has announced the opening of its first office in Lisbon. With this investment, the group wants to “strengthen its presence in Europe and explore new opportunities in other global markets”. PSA BDP Portugal operations will be led by country manager, Miguel Mesquita.
“PSA BDP Portugal will strengthen our presence in Europe and allow us to explore new opportunities in other global markets. We are excited to partner with the PSA team on the ground and provide unparalleled end-to-end logistics solutions to our valued customers in Portugal,” said Yves Letange, managing director for Europe at PSA BDP in a report by ECO.
This new structure will work in partnership with PSA Sines with a view to “offering customers a comprehensive and continuous set of services and solutions for the supply chain”, the Philadelphia-based group said in a statement. In operation since 2004, the PSA Sines Container Terminal is located 150 kilometres south of Lisbon, which guarantees “accessibility and ease of transport”.
“With a strategic geographic position at the intersection of two major maritime routes – North-South and East-West, this unique location makes the container terminal the preferred port of call where these commercial routes cross, reinforcing its vital role as an Atlantic gateway to Portugal and the Iberian Peninsula", adds the same note.
The American logistics giant also highlights that road and rail connections between PSA Sines and the interior of the country increase the efficiency of the supply chain network. “The robust infrastructure facilitates the smooth and environmentally friendly circulation of goods, optimizing transit times and reducing costs for customers,” says the group.
PSA BDP Portugal promises to work together with PSA Sines to provide services that include air cargo, sea transport, international road transport of goods, transport of oversized cargo and heavy loads, or customs and commercial compliance and domestic distribution.
“PSA BDP’s strategic location in Lisbon, working in collaboration with the PSA Sines Container Terminal, allows for an integrated approach that combines the strengths of both locations to promote operational efficiency and open new avenues of growth in the dynamic region of Portugal and the Iberian Peninsula“, highlights the group.
The group concluded that the decision to establish a presence in Lisbon “further expands PSA BDP’s global growth strategy while reinforcing its commitment to being an industry leader in global supply chain solutions.”
