In November 2023, the tourist accommodation sector registered 1.9 million guests (+9.2%) and 4.6 million overnight stays (+7.5%), generating 329.4 million euros in total revenue (+13.3%) and 243.5 million euros in income from accommodation (+13.2%).

Compared to November 2019, more significant increases continue to be recorded, +43.2% in total income and +46.8% in those related to accommodation, reveals INE.

The average income per available room (RevPAR) stood at 43.0 euros (+7.6%; +13.9% in October) and the average income per occupied room (ADR) reached 91.9 euros (+5.2%; +10.5% in October).

Among the municipalities with the highest representation in total overnight stays, Albufeira (share of 6.0%) once again fell below 2019 levels (-6.0%), after exceeding this level in October for the first time since the beginning of the pandemic (+1.5% compared to October 2019).

In the accumulated period from January to November 2023, overnight stays grew 10.8% (+1.6% for residents and +15.3% for non-residents), which corresponded to increases of 20.4% in total income and 21.6% in terms of accommodation (+40.1% and +42.9%, respectively, compared to the same period in 2019).

Considering most accommodation facilities (tourist accommodation establishments, camping and holiday camps and youth hostels), there were 30.6 million guests and 80.9 million overnight stays in the accumulated period from January to November 2023, corresponding to growth of 12.8% and 10.5%, respectively. Overnight stays by residents increased by 2.0% and overnight stays by non-residents increased by 15.1%.
