“We recorded between 2pm [on Tuesday], the time when the civil protection state of special alert began, and 7am today, 293 occurrences within the scope of extreme meteorology, with the most affected regions being the Setúbal Peninsula and the Porto Metropolitan Area and the most frequent type of occurrence being falling trees, flooding and falling structures”, commander Miguel Oliveira told Lusa.

According to the commander of the National Emergency and Civil Protection Authority (ANEPC), 61 incidents were recorded in the Setúbal Peninsula and 46 in the Porto Metropolitan Area.

“There are no casualties or serious damage to be reported, nor are we aware of roads being closed,” he said.

Contacted at around 07:00 by Lusa, a source from the Lisbon Firefighters Regiment said that “the night was calm, with minor incidents having been recorded”.

On Tuesday, civil protection recorded more than 200 incidents between 2:00 pm and 11:00 pm, most of which fell from trees or structures, 75 of which occurred in the North region and 53 in the Setúbal Peninsula.

The Lisbon and Tagus Valley region recorded the majority of incidents, with 53 occurring on the Setúbal Peninsula.

The 18 districts of the continent are under a yellow warning until 6pm today due to the forecast of heavy rain and strong wind, due to the effects of depression 'Irene', according to the Portuguese Institute of the Sea and Atmosphere (IPMA).
