In a statement, the race organisers guarantee the participation of “thousands of foreigners” in the 2024 edition, starting at Ponte 25 de Abril.

“Running out of registrations this early demonstrates the popularity of this unique race, which has been organised since 1991. The Lisbon Half Marathon is a showcase for Lisbon and Portugal”, declared the president of the Maratona Clube de Portugal, Carlos Moía.

The race, one of the most renowned half-marathons in the world, will this year, for the first time, have starting blocks, to “distribute the athletes according to their estimated times”.

The half marathon world record was achieved in the 2021 edition, when Ugandan Jacob Kiplimo ran the distance, on November 21, in 57.31 minutes.
