“Competences of the Future Algarve" is a training programme for professionals, which will use the Hotel and Tourism schools in Faro, Portimão and Vila Real de Santo António to provide 440 hours of online training. The 1800 participants will learn about Leadership and Team Management, Management Skills, Marketing and Digital Literacy, Service Excellence in the Tourism Sector and Sustainable Resource Management and Water Efficiency.

"This programme is a response to the needs identified by the main sectoral associations and its primary objective is to support tourism entrepreneurs in their activity, providing a comprehensive set of training actions in crucial areas for the sector. Excellence in the service provided is a non-negotiable commitment for the Algarve, and the training of professionals is an essential pillar for achieving this goal in this sector, which is fundamental for the regional economy," said André Gomes, president of Turismo do Algarve, at the launch of the programme at the RTA's headquarters.

"The latest results regarding the performance of tourism activity in 2023 attest to the Algarve's continued success and position the region as the country's leading tourist destination. With several records, from the number of guests to income from tourist accommodation, from golf rounds to passengers handled at Faro Airport, these results are the success of the Algarve's tourist activity. It is extremely important to use this opportunity to qualify resources, empower people and make organisations and companies aware of the region's future," concluded André Gomes.

The "Competences of the Future Algarve" programme will include two training phases, to be held from February to May and October to December, and four face-to-face boot camps at the three schools, one for each thematic area. At the end of the online actions, there will be a session involving all the participants.
