The final of the Festival da Canção will be broadcast live on RTP1, starting at 9:05 pm, celebrating the 60th anniversary of the festival, which chooses a Portuguese artist to represent Portugal in the Eurovision Song Contest since 1964.

Twelve songs are competing to go to Malmo, Sweden, to represent Portugal at the festival that celebrates European music. The selected themes were chosen in two semi-finals, which took place on 24 February and 2 March.

As usual, the winner is chosen by voting by a jury, represented by the seven regions of mainland Portugal and islands and by public vote. If there is a tie, the winner will be the public's favourite.

The winner of the Song Contest will represent Portugal in the 68th Eurovision Song Contest, which will take place in Malmo, Sweden, in May, 50 years after that country's first victory with the song “Waterloo”, by ABBA.

In 2023, Portugal came in 23rd place, with Mimicat and the song “Ai, Coração”. Portugal won the competition in 2017, with "Amar pelos Dois", a song written by Luísa Sobral and performed by Salvador Sobral.
