Welcome to Pedralva, a charming village nestled amidst the rolling hills of Portugal's southern coast. Here, time seems to slow down, and the art of savoring life takes center stage.

The History of Pedralva

Unknown to many, this picturesque Algarve village had 100 habitants in the past and ended up with only 9 in 2006. At the time, the village had 50 houses and only 6 were habitable.

That's when the "Aldeia da Pedralva" project was born and, between 2006 and 2008, more than 200 owners and heirs began to be approached, not only in Portugal but also throughout Europe, to negotiate and buy around 30 houses. Vila do Bispo Town Hall was also essential in this recovery process, as it invested in necessary infrastructure such as underground electrical cabling, as well as new plumbing, paving and lighting.

A Whole Village for Rent

Once a nearly deserted village, Pedralva was all rebuilt and it’s currently a countryside tourism village. Can you imagine a whole village for rent?

Pedralva evolved from a forgotten relic to a vibrant destination for travelers seeking refuge from the fast-paced world. With its whitewashed houses, cobblestone streets, and tranquil atmosphere, Pedralva invites visitors to embrace the essence of slow living – to pause, reflect, and reconnect with the simple pleasures of life.

As you wander through the narrow alleys of Pedralva, you'll encounter a myriad of hidden treasures waiting to be discovered. From quaint cafes serving up freshly brewed coffee to artisanal shops showcasing local crafts, each corner of the village exudes charm and authenticity. Take a leisurely stroll through the surrounding countryside, where scenic trails wind through olive groves, cork forests, and wildflower meadows, offering glimpses of the Algarve's natural beauty at every turn.

Embracing Slow Living in the Heart of the Algarve

All this metamorphosis has resulted in a completely renovated and inspiring village, with holiday homes for between two and eight people, all restored to their original design. As for gastronomy, the “Sítio da Pedralva” restaurant is an obligatory stop on the Costa Vicentina. The suggestion here is to try specialities such as codfish on bread in the Pedralva style.
