The Association for Protection of Animals Algarve are always busy with their SNiP campaign. The Spaying & Neutering Programme has reached all four corners of the Algarve. “The locals are becoming more interested in the increase of their feral feline population.” The trap is now needed for a pregnant dog, that has recently been abandoned near a gypsy camp. Unfortunately, the one that was left in case they could catch her, was stolen. Oh! “Now we have to start the process again.” Patience. And some more traps. “We’ve had two calls on the same day. Same problem. Mother cats living under a roof. With their kittens. They are being fed. But need SNiP’ping fast. One cat is pregnant again.” Have to be on the ball.

“Money does not grow on trees!” Nope. “Events and ‘Pop-Up’ Shops are our most popular events.” Not forgetting APAA’s two charity shops, Alvor and Silves. Always packed with goods for the home and garden.

Next! A really special event. Sunday 19 May Anita’s Super-duper Mad Hatter’s Buffet Lunch Garden Party. Members 20€/Non 22€. Special Plants on sale. Prize for the maddest hat!* 24 May Pop-Up classics on sale at Manu’s (AKA Pescadora) Figueira including model boats. Always a good Welcome! Sunday 12 May Ferragudo Car Boot Sale. Fair weather permitting. Always Good bargains. Jenny’s new jams and preserves. Jackie’s amazing Cookies. Friday 7 June 3.30pm-5.30pm. The Real Thing for He-man Caves and She-girl Sheds! Casa de Pasto de Parreirinha outskirts of Odelouca. Tools and stuff for the home and garden, DIY’ers don’t rush! Ladies, the odd pot of jam, preserves, and cookies will still be available. Anita’s ‘Pop-Up’ Table at Paul & Pasi’s did so well, that she is looking to open up a ‘Pop-Up’ shop at the ‘bio’ café downstairs in Edifiçio Pluma Comercial in Portimão. Watch out for more info.

Money raised running the ‘Pop-Up’ shops and events, helps APAA to help you, the community. SNiP (Spaying & neutering Programme) costs and covers the care given to abandoned animals. Usually pregnant dogs. If you have any ideas to raise money or give a helping hand please do not hesitate. Pick up the Phone! Please help APAA to help all those in need. Our furry friends.
