“The Portuguese team, today begins another chapter in our history. I fondly remember my first day with the national team, a journey full of challenges and victories. Now, I have the honour of being alongside a team of champions again, full of talent and determination,” he said, in a message posted on social media.

The captain of the Portuguese team, which is preparing to compete in the sixth final phase of a European Championship of his career, also highlighted that he has everyone's support in the competition that takes place in Germany until July 14th.

“With everyone’s strength and support, we turned dreams into reality. Let's, together, fight for another triumph. United, we are unstoppable,” he concluded.

Portugal makes its debut in Euro2024 football today, with a game against the Czech Republic, in Leipzig, Germany, on the day that Group F begins and the first round of the group stage ends.

The national team takes the field at 9pm local time (8pm in Lisbon), at the Red Bull Arena.

At Euro2024, in addition to the Czechs, Portugal also faces Turkey (on Saturday, in Dortmund) and Georgia (26th, in Gelsenkirchen) in Group F.
