The European Union's goal of ending the sale of cars with polluting emissions by 2035 will remain, said the president of the European Commission, Ursula von der Leyen, after her re-election.

The EC leader only added that a specific change will be made to the automobile policy to allow the use of synthetic fuels, as reported by Automotive News Europe.
The European Parliament approved, this Thursday, the reappointment of the President of the European Commission, the German politician Ursula von der Leyen, for another five years, with 401 favourable votes from MEPs in the plenary vote in Strasbourg, above the 360 required.
