Pepe, aged 41, and Sílvia Rebelo, aged 35, join Carla Couto, Luís Figo, Fernando Couto, Ricardinho, and Éder in the group of national team ambassadors.

“Sílvia [Rebelo] and Pepe represent not only excellence and dedication but also the values and culture that Portuguese football defends. The appointment as ambassadors reflects the recognition of the invaluable contribution that both made to Portuguese football”, noted the president of the FPF, Fernando Gomes.

Pepe ended his international career at Euro2024, in which Portugal was eliminated by France in the quarter-finals, after 141 games with the Portugal team shirt, a record surpassed only by Cristiano Ronaldo (212) and João Moutinho (146).

Sílvia Rebelo represented Portugal 124 times, the last of which was against Vietnam, in history participating in the 2023 World Cup, the first for the Portuguese team in the tournament.

“Both were an inspiration throughout their careers, showing that, regardless of the challenges, it is possible to achieve great things through work and passion for football”, said Fernando Gomes.
