Your support will help the needy in Lagoa, everything from the Altar will be delivered to the Lagoa social services who distribute to those in need.
Even if you are not a regular churchgoer you will find a warm welcome and a great opportunity to contribute to the local community. Please bring anything that has a long life, sacks of potatoes, tins, fruit, flour, vegetables, everything will be welcome. The photo will give you ideas of what you could offer.
All Saints Lagoa has a long history of harvest festivals, please join us to celebrate this year’s festival. Children are very welcome; we have found that they love to put their gifts on the Altar.
The history of harvest festivals can be traced back to ancient Britain and pagan times, when people gave thanks for a good harvest: The tradition is believed to have originated in Morwenstow, Cornwall in 1843, when Reverend Robert Hawker invited parishioners to receive the Sacrament in "the bread of the new corn". This festival is still alive today and we would love you to be part of it.
Please bring your gifts on Sunday morning, about 10:30 so we have time to decorate the Altar. The service will be at 11:00. You will find us at Convento de São José, Rua Joaquim Eugénio Judice, Lagoa. There is plenty of parking next to the convent. If you need any further information please contact the Church Warden at Bob.Chesters@outlook.com.
We look forward to seeing you on Sunday.
