“We are going to beat Porto City Hall, we are going to beat the capital of Rio Grande do Sul, the most important city in the country”, he said.

The socialist leader was speaking, in Penafiel, at the closing of the Porto federative congress of the Socialist Party.

“We want a city of Porto that is also middle class, we want a city of Porto for everyone and not just for a few”, he added.

Recalling that the PS governs in 12 of the 18 municipalities in the district, he argued that this leadership occurs because the PS knows, “better than anyone, how to govern a municipality in close proximity to the people”.

“That is our challenge, to win the local elections and in Penafiel [the PSD/CDS majority local authority] too”, he concluded.
