The event, which will take place at the Serpa Fair and Exhibition Park, will present artisanal cheeses made from sheep, goat, cow and mixed cheeses, cottage cheese, ‘almece’, fresh cheeses, buttery cheeses, and cured cheeses, among others, the municipality said in a statement.

Visitors will also be able to purchase products with DOP certification – Protected Designation of Origin, organic certification and “cheeses awarded in international competitions”.

The fair will also have recreational and educational activities for school children, agricultural and livestock initiatives, exhibitions, shearing demonstrations, workshops, the “Bread Bread Cheese Cheese Sensory Tour”, cheese and sheep competitions and live craft demonstrations.

For the Alentejo municipality, the Alentejo Cheese Fair represents “the affirmation of the region as a destination for major events linked to cultural identity” and “an opportunity to promote the municipality in its most diverse aspects”.
