In the Barlavento Algarve river basin, the amount of water increased from 15.4% in January to 20.7% in February, but it still remains the one with the smallest amount of water.
According to the report, the amount of water stored rose in six river basins and fell in six.
Storages by river basin were higher than the February averages (1990/91 to 2023/24), except in the Mira, Ave, Ribeiras do Algarve and Arade basins.
Of the 60 monitored reservoirs, 26 have water availability greater than 80% of the total volume and five less than 40%.
According to SNIRH data available today, the Barlavento (20.7%), Mira (40.4%), Arade (41.8%) and Sado (61.9%) basins had less water at the end of February.
The Tagus and Guadiana basins had the largest volume of water, with 86.7% and 84.5%, respectively, followed by the Douro (82.8%), Cávado (77.6%), Lima (75.9%), Mondego (74.8%), Oeste (74.7%) and Ave (67.4%).
