“We will have a cold front on the 7th [Friday] and another on the 8th [Saturday]. These fronts are associated with a depression that is currently digging and approaching the northwest region of the Iberian Peninsula, where it will remain and affect the weather at least until the 9th [Sunday],” she said.

According to the meteorologist at the Portuguese Institute of the Sea and Atmosphere (IPMA), rain is still expected for today, which may be of some intensity on the north and central coast during the afternoon, but with sunny spells in the south.

“Gradually from tomorrow [Friday], we will see the approach of a cold front with moderate to strong activity that will bring rain to the entire country and for which a yellow warning has already been issued. It will also bring an increase in the intensity of the wind, sometimes blowing with strong gusts, particularly on the coast and in the highlands, but it will be felt throughout the country,” she said.

This weather forecast led the IPMA to issue a yellow warning of rain for all districts of mainland Portugal between 3:00 pm on Friday and midnight on Saturday and of wind for Porto, Setúbal, Viana do Castelo, Lisbon, Leiria, Aveiro, Coimbra and Braga between 12:00 pm and 9:00 pm on Friday.

Regarding temperatures in mainland Portugal, the IPMA meteorologist said that the most significant drop will be on Saturday, the day when the intensity of the wind will increase thermal discomfort.

“On the 8th [Saturday] we will have maximum temperatures that can reach 13/14 degrees on the coast and 02 to 05 degrees in the interior regions. The minimum temperatures [on Saturday] will be 07/08 degrees on the north coast and below 0 degrees in the interior,” she said.
