The new CUF health unit, which will serve the population of the south bank of the Tagus, will be located next to the railway station of the Union of Parishes of Palhais and Coina, on land adjacent to the border with the municipality of Seixal.

The future CUF Barreiro Hospital, which will serve the population of the municipalities of Barreiro and Seixal, will provide a comprehensive and differentiated clinical response to an area of influence of more than 800 thousand inhabitants, consolidated in the experience and clinical excellence of its professionals, combined with state-of-the-art technology, according to a press release sent to the newsroom.

The new hospital unit, which represents an investment of 55 million euros, is born with an area of more than 12 thousand m², with three Operating rooms, 34 inpatient beds, an Intermediate Care Unit, an Oncology Day Hospital and more than 50 consultation and exam offices. With a multidisciplinary and comprehensive offer of medical-surgical and technical specialties, the hospital will also offer Imaging services - with the provision of Computed Tomography (CT), Magnetic Resonances, Ultrasound, X-ray and Mammography The population of the municipalities of Barreiro and Seixal that will serve will also have a Permanent Adult and Pediatric Care service available, to respond to health emergency situations.

For the Chairman of the Executive Committee of CUF, Rui Diniz, "the clinical project of excellence, designed for the CUF Barreiro Hospital, reinforces the presence of the CUF network on the south bank of the Tagus, ensuring greater proximity and increasing access to differentiated health care". And he adds: "CUF wants to be where, when and how the Portuguese need answers to their health needs and this is another step in the strategy of proximity to the populations, in the year in which we celebrate 80 years of activity at the service of those who entrust us with their health".

Scheduled for completion in 2028, the CUF Barreiro Hospital will create more than 300 jobs. This will be the fourth CUF health unit in this region, which already has three clinics in operation, the CUF Almada, CUF Montijo and CUF Barreiro clinics. It should be remembered that, later this year, the CUF Barreiro Clinic will occupy new facilities, built from scratch. The CUF Barreiro Hospital will be integrated in a plot of land with a total area of 25 thousand m², which will allow the expansion of this unit and the installation of other valences in the health area in the future.
