In a statement, the group indicates that it has already obtained all the necessary licensing to begin construction, with the work having been awarded this month to the company Teixeira Duarte.

Luz Saúde expects the construction of the new hospital to be completed by the end of 2025, aiming for opening in the first half of 2026.

With an investment of 58 million euros, this new hospital unit is expected to create 500 jobs and reinforce “proximity medical services for the approximately 425 thousand Ribatejo residents, namely in the municipalities of Santarém, Ourém, Tomar, Abrantes, Torres Novas, Almeirim, Cartaxo, among others”.

According to the same source, this new infrastructure will feature “a wide range of consultations from different medical and surgical specialties” and state-of-the-art equipment.

The hospital, which is being built next to the 'Retail Park', in the south of Santarém, will have an inpatient unit with 42 beds and will include an operating room with 4 operating rooms.

It is also planned to install 40 consultation rooms, various medical specialties such as internal medicine, general and family medicine, pediatrics, gynecology-obstetrics, orthopedics, cardiology, neurology, and general surgery, among others.

According to the group, this new hospital will be built with the aim of “strengthening the network of hospitals and clinics that Luz Saúde has in the national territory” and aims to “be a reference in healthcare in Ribatejo, creating a highly differentiated care offer, that allows comprehensive and specialized monitoring of the population of this region”, reads the statement.

Luz Saúde currently provides its services through 28 units (14 private hospitals, 13 private clinics, and a senior residence).
