The Portuguese Institute of the Sea and Atmosphere (IPMA) predicts that high temperatures will continue to reach the north and south of the country, with thermometers reaching 40ºC.
However, the heat will not come alone. Some districts will also register some periods of thunderstorms and even rain until Thursday, the 19th.
On Wednesday, June 18, thunderstorms are only expected for Vila Real and Beja; however, rain is also expected to arrive in Portalegre.
The hottest districts are expected to be Évora and Beja, with 39ºC, Bragança, Castelo Branco and Santarém, with 37ºC and Vila Real and Portalegre with 36ºC. In Lisbon, temperatures are expected to reach 33ºC, in Porto up to 26ºC and in Faro up to 30ºC.
On Thursday, June 19, temperatures will return to 40ºC, this time in Beja. Évora is expected to register 38ºC, Castelo Branco 37ºC and Santarém 36ºC. In Lisbon, temperatures are expected to reach 33ºC, in Porto 24ºC and in Faro 34ºC.
In addition to the heat, rain and thunderstorms will also continue in some of the districts of mainland Portugal: Bragança, Vila Real, Viseu, Guarda, Castelo Branco and Portalegre.
