A loan agreement approved at the most recent meeting of the Lagos executive paves the way for a temporary exhibition of 47 works by Paula Rego, on display at the Lagos Cultural Centre from July 19 to September 27.

Widely regarded as the most internationally acclaimed Portuguese contemporary artist, Paula Rego spent her life between Portugal and England, earning prestigious honours in both countries for her ground-breaking artistic career.

As part of the 2025 exhibition program of this cultural facility, the exhibition brings together a selection of works by the artist, who passed away in 2022, which takes us back to the places of her childhood. Recreating a fantasy world, 21 etchings and aquatints from the series of the same name, produced in 1992, will be presented, as well as other prints by the artist inspired by legends, fairy tales and traditional tales, in which children are the protagonists.

The initiative is organized by the City of Lagos, with the support of DGArtes/RTCP.
