The operation, carried out on Friday, targeted the "food and beverage, convenience and alcoholic beverage, grocery, and other sectors located in areas with high tourist traffic in the municipality of Albufeira," the Food and Economic Safety Authority (ASAE) said in a statement.
Among the main violations detected were "a lack of guarantee of the potability of the water used in the business, a lack of prior communication, and a lack of mandatory legal notices related to the sale and provision of alcohol, tobacco, among others," he added.
In addition to initiating 10 misdemeanour proceedings, the operation determined "the suspension of the activities of four establishments, as a precautionary measure, for violation of the general duties of the operator of the food and beverage establishment and a lack of guarantee of the potability of the water used in the activity".
