According to industry sources cited by the Automobile Club of Portugal (ACP), the price of petrol is expected to fall by 1.5 cents and that of diesel by 3.5 cents.
"If forecasts for next week are confirmed, the average price of regular diesel should fall to €1.551 per litre, while that of regular 95% petrol will be €1.691 per litre," the ACP indicates.
These calculations take into account that, according to the Directorate General of Energy and Geology (DGEG), the average price per litre of diesel in Portugal this Friday (August 8) was €1.586, while that of petrol was €1.706.
The ACP also notes that "the forecasts are based on the assumption that the extraordinary tax reduction measures implemented by the government to mitigate price increases will continue."
"The measures in force include the reduction of the Tax on Petroleum Products (ISP) and the offsetting of additional revenue from the ICMS (Tax on Petroleum Products)".
