According to real-time data from ANA Aeroportos, 17 cancellations were recorded, seven departures and ten arrivals, and 14 flights diverted to other destinations.

Aircraft that were unable to complete landing were forced to divert to airports such as Lisbon, Porto, Faro, and Porto Santo, as well as to the Canary Islands, including Tenerife, Lanzarote, and Las Palmas.

These disruptions, which affected hundreds of passengers with connections to cities such as London, Paris, and Frankfurt, are due to adverse weather conditions that prevented visibility in the approach area to the runway.

The meteorological scenario featured a low cloud ceiling and intense precipitation, creating a "rain curtain" that hampered manoeuvres.

By late afternoon, several aircraft remained in the air, performing holding manoeuvres in anticipation of improved safety conditions that would allow for a final landing and avoid further cancellations.
