The announcement was made during Disney’s Upfront presentation in New York on 12 May, giving fans the chance to revisit the film at home — or watch it for the first time if they missed it on the big screen.
A follow-up to Avatar: The Way of Water (2022), the film once again follows Jake Sully and Neytiri as they continue navigating life on Pandora. This time, after meeting the oceanic Na’vi clans introduced in the previous film, they come face to face with a new tribe that brings a much darker, more hostile dynamic to the story.
Despite becoming another major global hit, Avatar: Fire and Ashes earned around $1.48 billion worldwide — making it, somewhat surprisingly, the lowest-grossing film in the franchise so far.
Disney also reshared the movie’s original trailer ahead of the streaming release, building anticipation for its Disney+ debut next month.
