According to the Portuguese Institute of the Sea and Atmosphere (IPMA), Alcoutim in the Algarve is at the highest risk of fires.
There are also 16 municipalities at very high risk of fire in Portugal today in the districts of Faro, Beja, Santarém, Castelo Branco and Portalegre.
