Lucas Chianca, who has gone through to the competition final for the first time in the Big Wave Tour, won in Nazare on Sunday, with 19.89 points.
“It’s a really important victory for me because the place [Nazare] is so special”, he told Lusa News Agency at the end of the competition.
After getting through to the semi-final on Saturday, a day with lots of wind and bigger waves, when the competition had to be called off, Lucas Chianca said on Sunday that he was “very happy it all went well”.
He also said that he hopes to be able to “win the Toiur” next year.
Today’s victory means that Chianca moves up to fifth place in the world ranking, which is now led by Billy Kemper, who knocked fellow countryman Kai Lenny into second place.
Along with Lucas Chianca on the podium today, were Kemper, with 13.93 points, and Basque, Natxo Gonzalez, with 13.83 points.
