Comparing with Friday's data, which recorded 854 deaths, today there was a 3% increase in deaths.
Regarding the number of confirmed cases of infection with the new coronavirus, DGS data show that there are 595 more cases than on Friday, representing an increase of 2.6%.
The North region has the highest number of deaths (502), followed by the Central region (188), Lisbon and the Tagus Valley (170), the Algarve (11), the Azores (8) and the Alentejo, which registers one dead, advances the epidemiological situation report, with updated data until Friday 24:00.
Of the registered deaths, 591 were over 80 years old, 178 were between 70 and 79 years old, 77 between 60 and 69 years old, 24 between 50 and 59, and ten between 40 and 49.
Of the total number of infected people, the vast majority are recovering at home, totaling 20,195 (plus 548).
The data indicate that 1,040 are hospitalized, 28 less than on Thursday (-2.6%), and 186 are in Intensive Care Units, minus two, which represents a decrease of 1.0%.
DGS data state that the municipality of Lisbon is the one with the highest number of cases of coronavirus infection (1,346), followed by Vila Nova de Gaia (1,180), Porto (1,120), Braga (974), Matosinhos (945) ), Gondomar (897), Maia (770), Valongo (660), Ovar (536), Sintra (523) and Coimbra, with 371 cases.
Since January 1, 231,737 suspected cases have been recorded, of which 4,783 are awaiting test results.
There are 203,562 cases in which the test results were negative, says DGS, adding that the number of recovered patients increased to 1,277 (there were 1,228).
The North region continues to register the highest number of infections, totaling 14,072, followed by the region of Lisbon and Vale do Tejo, with 5,435, of the Center region, with 3,183, of the Algarve (320) and Alentejo (185).
The Azores recorded 111 cases of covid-19 and Madeira 86.
DGS also records 29,932 contacts under surveillance by health authorities.
Of the total infected, 13,803 are women and 9,589 men.
The age group most affected by the disease is from 50 to 59 years old (3,979), followed by the age group from 40 to 49 years old (3,945) and people over 80 years old (3,589 cases).
There are also 3,275 patients aged between 30 and 39 years old, 2,782 between 60 and 69 years old, 2,672 between 20 and 29 years old and 2,086 aged between 70 and 79 years old.
The DGS also records 373 cases of children up to nine years old and 691 of young people aged between 10 and 19 years old.
According to the report of the Directorate-General for Health, 171 cases result from the importation of the virus from Spain, 130 from France, 87 from the United Kingdom. There are still hundreds of cases imported from dozens of other countries.
According to the bulletin, 50% of patients positive for the new coronavirus have cough symptoms, 36% fever, 26% muscle pain, 24% headache, 20% general weakness and 14% breathing difficulty. This information refers to 80% of confirmed cases.
