Lisbon voted second best Europe destination

Lisbon has been voted the second best Europe destination in an online poll carried out by the online travel site European Best Destinations.

The Portuguese capital received an impressive 37,621 votes but was pipped to the post by Bordeaux in France, which had over 42,000 votes.

Lisbon was among 20 European destinations battling it out for a top spot decided by the voting which took place between 22 January and 10 February.

Last year the online poll was topped by the northern Portuguese city of Oporto.

Going to Lisbon in March. Been there many times.

Seems like the voting public like the cities with a bit of wine culture. Did you know that this capital city has it's own wine region - yes there is a Lisbon wine region. The duke of Wellington took back some white wine from the area and it was an immediate hit with the court of George III. Come visit with us soon and discover Lisbon for yourself.
