His assistant will be Paolo Piccareta who was deputy to Paolo di Canio at Swindon Town and Sunderland.
The new technical team also includes another Italian, Matteo Spatafora, as fitness coach whilst Valter Onofre remains as goalkeeping coach.
This move further strengthens the belief that SC Olhanense will become a satellite club of Italian Serie A side Sampdoria.
Igor Campedelli, who until recently was the main face of the Olhanense SAD (limited liability company) is negotiating the sale of a 35 percent stake to investors close to Sampdoria.
Two young players from the Genoa club, Martin Simões and Andres Ponce, have already joined Olhanense.
The Olhão-based club is seen as an attractive proposition for the Italians as Portuguese clubs are permitted to sign non-EU nationals from South America and Africa (contrary to what happens in Italy and several other European countries), taxation is lower, the mild climate is ideal and the Segunda Liga is considered the ideal league to develop young talent.
Sampdoria already has similar partnerships with Novigrad (Croatia) and Mihalovce (Slovakia) and is keen to follow the route taken by Udinese, which controls (albeit indirectly) Spanish side Granada and English Championship side Watford.
Olhanense take on an Italian flavour
