The event, which follows strict rules laid down by the International Organisation of Vine and Wine (acronym OIV, from its French language name L'Organisation Internationale de la Vigne et du Vin), consists of daily ‘blind’ tastings until Sunday, where the judges from the 30 countries assess the quality of the wines without being told where they are from.
"This is one of the most prestigious wine competitions in the world and Anadia is honoured to host this year’s edition", The deputy mayor, Jorge Sampaio, who is also the main leader of the Bairrada Route Association.
In the competition are going to be wines from 30 producer countries, with special emphasis on France, Italy, Germany, Spain, Chile, Argentina, South Africa, United States and Portugal, and there is going to be a special presence by the local producers from Bairrada, who were offered special conditions to join the event.
