The deputy environment secretary said today that the government was going to legalise the activity of mobility platforms such as Uber and the transport of passengers in unmarked cars.
“We immediately gave instructions to the Mobility and Transports Institute to prepare laws to regulate the activity of mobility service platforms”, José Mendes told reporters.
The secretary said that the new operators are going to operate in an open market but “only if they are called or booked via an electronic platform”.
Nevertheless, the unmarked cars will still only be able to be driven “by certified drivers”.
