The IPMA has also placed several municipalities in all districts on the continent (18) at very high and high risk of fire.
The risk of fire will remain high in some regions of the continent until at least Thursday.
This fire risk determined by IPMA has five levels, ranging from reduced to maximum.
Calculations are obtained from air temperature, relative humidity, wind speed and amount of precipitation in the last 24 hours.
Because of the hot weather, the Portuguese Institute of the Sea and Atmosphere has placed the mountainous regions of Madeira Island under red warning until 18:00 on Tuesday.
The south and north coasts of Madeira and Porto Santo are under orange warning due to the persistence of extremely high values in maximum temperatures until Tuesday.
Also due to hot weather, the IPMA has placed the district of Faro under an orange weather warning until 18:00 today.
The districts of Beja, Évora, Castelo Branco, Portalegre, Guarda, Bragança, Vila Real and Braga are also under a yellow warning due to hot weather until 18:00 today.
The IPMA forecasts for today on the continent the continuation of warm weather with generally clear skies, temporarily cloudy in some places on the Central coast until early morning.
A light to moderate wind is also forecast from the north quadrant, temporarily from the southwest in the eastern Algarve in the early afternoon, becoming moderate to strong from the northwest in the afternoon, with gusts up to 60 kilometres per hour (km/h) on the west coast and in the highlands.
The forecast also points to fog or morning fog in some places on the Central coast and a small drop in temperature, especially in the Centre and Southern regions.
The minimum temperatures will fluctuate between 13 degrees Celsius (in Bragança, Porto and Leiria) and 24 (in Faro) and the maximum between 24 (in Aveiro) and 40 (in Faro).
The IPMA also forecasts warm weather for the Madeira archipelago with fine or clear skies.
A light to moderate wind from the northeast is also expected, blowing moderate to strong, with gusts up to 60 km/h, in the highlands and in the extreme east and west of Madeira Island, and a small rise in temperature.
In Funchal, temperatures will fluctuate between 26 and 33 degrees and in Porto Santo between 22 and 27.
