The crime took place following an argument, when the 31-year-old detainee, “struck 16 blows, with two knives, to the victim’s chest, back, shoulders, legs and hands, causing hemorrhages and internal injuries”, reads a statement from the Attorney General's Office of the District of Faro.

Escape

The 22-year-old victim tried to escape through the apartment's balcony, jumping outside, but died "in the vicinity", the MP said, noting that the detainee is also suspected of drug trafficking.

Inside the apartment the defendant had “hashish resin and cocaine for sale to third parties, as well as about 600 euros and 200 pounds from that trade”, in addition to a precision scale.

According to reports, both men involved in the incident were from Northern Ireland and were sharing the apartment where the incident took place.
