Aldi has revealed that it plans to open two dozen stores in Portugal
by the end of the year.
"After celebrating the opening of its 108th store in
the country, the third since the beginning of the year, the food retailer
continues with its expansion plan, planning to open a total of 20 stores by the
end of 2022 and reach new areas of the country", reveals the supermarket
group, in a statement sent to Notícias ao Minuto.
Matosinhos, Guimarães, Palmela (Quinta do Anjo) and Loulé
are some of the openings planned for the second half of the year, according to
Aldi.
"Maintaining the pace of openings in 2021, when it was
possible to open more than 20 stores, Aldi aims to reach 200 stores in the
coming years, with the objective of being closer to customers and being able to
offer in a simple, fast and differentiating way, the freshest and highest
quality products at the best price".
If they come they need to a like the UK were their food range is better and with more variety in this present moment the Aldi in Portugal is a disgrace in terms of food range

All the supermarkets in Portugal offer roughly the same products. Rinse and repeat. To think that Portugal actually brought spices back from the Far East hundreds of years ago and today it only offers the most basic of spices! And the same for majority of products in supermarkets - low quality, high fat and sugar , little variety. And no, Portugal cannot blame the war in the Ukraine for this. This lack of variety and quality existed before the war.
