"Despite the added difficulties that the pandemic, the war in Ukraine, and the first signs of rising inflation brought, the 2022 fiscal year was very positive", the financial administrator and executive vice president (CFO) of Ikea Portugal, Ricardo Pereira, told Dinheiro Vivo.

The official also says that "Ikea sales exceeded expectations and this success was due to [the importance] of the house in the lives of the Portuguese. The main objective remains to ensure that the Ikea offer continues to be accessible to customers".

Although there are no restrictions in physical stores and these "still are the main point of contact with the customer", he says, the share of online sales stood at 19%, starting from close to 4% in fiscal 2019. "This percentage evolution shows that online shopping habits, which gained momentum during the pandemic, were maintained after the reopening of commerce".
