This weekend, on the 17th and 18th of June, the first international 7-a-side football competition will take place between 8am and 8pm.

The cup will consist of 32 teams, eight Benjamins which are the under tens, eight Tranquinas who are the under eights, and sixteen children born between 2010/11.

Associação Escolas Futebol Monte Gordo are the organisers of the event, and the association aims to boost youth football in the Algarve and to motivate and inspire the younger generation to take up the “Beautiful game”.

The teams are mainly from the Algarve, but neighbouring Spain will have a team also. Sports Complex Vila Real de Santo António will be the host of the tournament which gives the chance for the competitors to play in a high-quality facility. The cup also has the support and backing of the Parish Council of Monte Gordo.

That’s not all though, the cost of the tickets are only 1 euro which means it is something you cannot miss out on and support the development of football in the Algarve.
