According to a report by ECO, 100 jobs will be created by the end of 2024 in this space, which will serve as a showcase for clients from all over Europe. The British company also plans to invest six million euros annually in people, facilities and laboratories.

Listed in the United Kingdom, with operations around the world, the company has already opened 40 vacancies in Porto in the areas of human resources, finance, information technology, legal, commercial, purchasing, research and development. “Employees based in Porto will collaborate with Elementis teams located in Europe and the American continent, but some of the functions will have a global scope”, informs the company in a statement.

The future Porto unit will support both of Elementis' business segments – personal care and performance specialties –, while also reinforcing the current research and development capacity of the company's laboratories in Asia and the American continent. The company operates in the personal care sector, namely cosmetic actives and antiperspirants.

“Added value”

Among the reasons for choosing Porto are the quality talent available, the business environment beneficial to Elementis' objectives and the city's existing infrastructure. As well as the opportunity to collaborate with the Universidade Católica Portuguesa, through the Center for Biotechnology and Fine Chemistry (CBQF) of the Escola Superior de Biotecnologia. The company also identifies as an added value “the Portuguese time zone, which is ideal for meeting the needs of customers and the company’s other locations on the American continent and Europe”.

“Elementis Porto will be an open and inspiring space for our employees and customers to collaborate on practical demonstrations, presentations and training. We have ambitious plans to launch more than 50 new products by 2026, and this new location will play a crucial role in realising these plans”, said Paul Waterman, CEO of Elementis.

With approximately 1,300 employees in 23 locations around the world, Elementis “creates high-value specialty additives that improve the performance of customers’ products.” It provides solutions to customers across a wide range of markets, including cosmetics, antiperspirants, decorative and industrial coatings, automotive and ceramics.
