According to the municipality, the relocation of the 22 families, totaling 55 people, residing in this neighbourhood also known as Quinta João Tomás, in the parish of Amora, will take place between today and Wednesday.

This relocation, explains the municipality, falls within the scope of the Municipal Housing Plan of the municipality of Seixal 2021/2026, which aims to respond to the municipality's housing needs.

In a statement, the president of the Seixal City Council, Paulo Silva (CDU), explains that this is a municipal housing policy program that aims to create conditions so that the costs of access to “adequate and permanent” housing are “ compatible with the financial budget of families living in situations of financial need”.

Paulo Silva highlights that the municipality's objective is to “promote the social integration of the person or family, so the housing solutions adopted promote integration in the community, changing the paradigm previously installed, in which the relocation of populations only takes place with the construction of social neighbourhoods”.
