In a statement, Infraestruturas de Portugal (IP) informed that “in order to continue the work being carried out on the expansion joints of the road deck of the northern access viaduct, it will be necessary to carry out a new cut in car traffic on the Ponte 25 de April in both directions, in the early hours of February 18th.”

The company responsible for managing road infrastructure suggests as an alternative for crossing between the south and north banks of the Tagus River in the Lisbon region, between 00:00 and 07:00, “the use of the Vasco da Gama Bridge”.

The 25 de Abril Bridge, opened in 1966, connects the city of Lisbon, on the north bank of the Tagus River, via the North-South Axis, Praça de Espanha, Amoreiras, A5 Motorway and Alcântara, to the municipality of Almada, in the district of Setúbal, via the A2 and Almada and Costa da Caparica branches of the Complementary Itinerary (IC) 20.

The Vasco da Gama Bridge, which connects Sacavém to Montijo, is accessible on the north bank via the IC17 (CRIL), A1, Sacavém, Segunda Circular and IC2 and, on the south bank, via the A12 and A33.
