According to Jornal Económico, TAP is launching a route to Florianópolis, the capital of the State of Santa Catarina, in southern Brazil, from September 3, with three weekly flights between Lisbon and Florianópolis International Airport – Hercílio Luz.

“The choice of Florianópolis as TAP’s 12th destination in Brazil will allow us to continue developing the diversification strategy in TAP’s most important market, reinforcing among Brazilians the geographical convenience of Portugal as a gateway to more than 50 destinations in Europe ”, said the air carrier.

The plane used by TAP to make the air connection will be the Airbus A330-200, with capacity for 269 passengers, 244 in Economy Class and 25 in Business Class. The flight will last approximately 11h00.

“Flights between Lisbon and Florianópolis operate on Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Saturdays, departing Lisbon between 10:10 am and 10:50 am and arriving in Florianópolis between 5:15 pm and 5:55 pm. In the opposite direction, flights depart from the capital of Santa Catarina between 7:35 pm and 8:40 pm and arrive in the Portuguese capital between 9:50 am and 10:55 am the following day,” said the airline.

“The launch of the flight to the State of Santa Catarina had already been evaluated and studied for some time. For TAP, it is very important that we were able to bring forward the launch of this new route to a period in which, due to the state of calamity in Rio Grande do Sul and the closure of Porto Alegre airport, the South of Brazil needs it so much. An increase in supply for our largest market, which is Brazil, is normal and desired by us. With this new route, TAP reinforces its commitment to continue investing to be the European airline of choice for Brazilian customers”, said TAP CEO, Luís Rodrigues.

The airline highlights that this new route to Florianópolis allows TAP to “maintain a record level of flight supply” during the European summer, despite the suspension of flights to Porto Alegre.

“During this period, TAP offers 95 weekly flights, an average of more than 13 flights per day, with departures from 11 Brazilian state capitals,” said the airline.
