In his speech, the President highlighted his "gratitude" to those who worked for three years towards this goal, remembering that these were years of wars and the aftermath of the pandemic.

"They represent each one of us, the Portuguese men and women," he said, highlighting the "pride" in the athletes who have qualified for the competition.

"Each of you is more than an ambassador of Portugal, you are ambassadors of peace", said Marcelo Rebelo de Sousa.

The Paris'2024 Olympic Games will be held from July 26th to August 11th, with Portugal currently having 73 qualified athletes.
