Speaking today to the Lusa agency, Manuel Leal, from STRUP, said that this is a strike for the first two hours and the last two hours of each worker's service.

According to the union leader, the schedules are completely diverse, with workers starting work at 3am, and then having several start times at different times throughout the day.

"It is having a strong turnout following what have been the latest strikes by Carris workers. It is a partial strike, so it is difficult to advance with a percentage of turnout," he said.

Manuel Leal highlighted that services are being "strongly" affected by the partial strike.

"Taking into account this situation, as a strike is different from a total strike, there are always cars circulating, but in terms of waiting times and the frequency of vehicle passage, that is where major effects are noticed," he said.

The trade unionist recalled that at issue is the administration's lack of response to demands for a real increase in wages, the updating of the food subsidy, the evolution towards 35 hours of service per week, with the inclusion of workers' travel times, "and the resumption of the negotiation process, which was unilaterally interrupted by the company".

"However, we received 'feedback' from the company, which scheduled a meeting for the 23rd with the workers. Let's hope that the board of directors knows how to read this level of workers' discontent and provides answers to unblock the conflict", he concluded.
