The Algarve Hotel and Tourism Association has released figures for occupancy per room in the past month and stated that the figure reached was “close to that recorded in 2023”, in the same period last year.

In the monthly statement that AHETA publishes with occupancy data in accommodation units in the region, the business association highlighted that the largest year-on-year growth in July belonged to the Swedish market, with an increase of 0.8 percentage points, the Dutch market, with an increase of 0.4, and the German market, which rose by 0.3 percentage points.

In terms of declines, the biggest ones were felt by the national market (down 2.3 percentage points, and by the French, down 0.6, the Algarve Hotel Association countered.

“Despite the decline, the Portuguese continue to be the main market, both in terms of the number of overnight stays and guests, in July in the Algarve”, highlighted AHETA.

The average stay was 4.9 nights, an increase of “0.2 percentage points above that seen in the same month of the previous year”, said AHETA, specifying that the markets that occupied the most rooms in the region were the Irish, Belgian, and Swedish markets, with an average of 6.9 nights, 6.5 nights and 6.4 nights, respectively.
