Greater Lisbon was the region most affected by the bad weather.

In statements to the Lusa news agency at 09:00, Miguel Oliveira, operations officer at ANEPC, specified that of the 46 incidents recorded between 00:00 and 07:00, 26 occurred in Greater Lisbon, most of which were flooding on public roads.

“We are talking about flooding on public roads and mass movements, without any major or serious consequences. We had 26 incidents in Greater Lisbon and then one, two, three incidents scattered throughout the northern and central regions, with minor flooding,” Miguel Oliveira told Lusa.

Contacted by Lusa, a source from the Lisbon Fire Brigade Regiment said that some incidents had been recorded during the night, mainly minor flooding of public roads.

Due to the forecast of persistent and sometimes heavy rain, the Portuguese Institute of the Sea and Atmosphere (IPMA) has placed the districts of Viana do Castelo, Braga, Porto and Aveiro under a yellow warning from 9:00 today until midnight on Tuesday.

The districts of Portalegre and Setúbal are under a yellow warning due to rain until 12:00 today and Évora and Beja until 15:00 today.

The IPMA has already issued an orange warning for the coast of nine districts on the mainland for Wednesday due to the forecast of strong sea waves.

The districts of Porto, Setúbal, Viana do Castelo, Lisbon, Leiria, Beja, Aveiro, Coimbra and Braga will be under a yellow warning between midnight and 9 am on Wednesday, then changing to orange between 9 am and 6 pm on the same day due to rough seas, with waves from the west measuring 5 to 6 metres expected.

The IPMA has also issued a yellow warning of persistent and sometimes heavy rain for Wednesday for the districts of Viseu, Vila Real, Viana do Castelo, Aveiro, Braga and Porto.

The districts of Viseu, Porto, Guarda, Vila Real, Viana do Castelo, Aveiro and Braga will also be under a yellow warning on Wednesday due to the forecast of southwesterly winds with gusts of up to 70 kilometres per hour (km/h), with gusts of up to 95 km/h in the highlands.
