This is a phenomenal, pioneering measure by the government but it should be extended to have the least relevance. There should be incentives and benefits for anyone who decides buying an electric car.

Very, very bad value for money given the price of 2nd ha d vehicles in Portugal. Why on earth would you 'scrape' your car for a more expensive and equally polluting electric one?

I would think it unlikely that anyone with a spare 30,000€ would own a car, worthy of inclusion in the scheme, with a value of less than 4,000€

Hi Birgitta, sorry but all the research shows that electric vehicles are much 'greener' than ICE vehicles , considering their whole life emissions from resource extraction, through manufacturing and use, to final scrapping and recycling. At present an EV in the EU has on average almost 70% lower lifetime emissions, and this will increase as electricity generation is decarbonised. Of course EV's are not the perfect or only answer for cleaner transport but they are a definite improvement on fossil fuel vehicles.

Lol, no Teslas on here, despite them having 2 cars in the top 3 most reliable electric cars of 2024, despite them being the most profitable electric cars — ie. most likely business model and despite Tesla having an EU factory.
Suspicious anyone?

From someone who has owned a Tesla, I would not take one car on that list over a Tesla even with the incentive.
