“The country, the life of each person does not need survival kits for wars, what it needs is a kit for a better life, a fair life for those who make the country work, those who have worked their whole lives, the young people, to which the majority have a right”, stated Paulo Raimundo, in his closing speech at the 12th Assembly of the Braga Regional Organization, which took place at a school in Taipas, in the municipality of Guimarães.

According to the leader of the PCP, this “better life kit” is the “kit of lives that matter, the kit of solutions that make a difference in what really matters: people’s lives”.

The European Commission advised European citizens to have an emergency kit at home with water and supplies for three days in case of emergencies - due to natural causes, such as fires or floods, or human-made causes, such as accidents or conflicts - with the European executive's preparation scheduled for July, when the next multi-annual budget will begin to be debated.

“Houses to live in, time to live, to play and educate children. Dignity for those who have worked their whole lives, health for all, only with a strong SNS [National Health Service]. This is the ‘kit’ for a better life that is needed, these are the answers to be given, this is the commitment of the PCP and the CDU, the strength that counts in what counts: people’s lives”, defended Raimundo.

According to the PCP’s secretary general, the party “will not back down even a millimetre in defending peace”.

“With us, not a single cent goes to the war, all the money goes to children, daycare centers, the elderly, nursing homes, education, health, housing,” the communist leader emphasised.
