A seminar and discussion on Thursday, a visit to the collections of traditional Algarve fruit trees at the Tavira Agricultural Experimentation Center, a guided tour and olive oil tasting at Lagar Monterosa in Moncarapacho, in the municipality of Olhão, both on Friday, and a visit to a honey factory, also in Tavira, are the planned initiatives.
"The Mediterranean Diet is a living heritage of the entire country and the Mediterranean Biogeographical Region, recognized by UNESCO [the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization] as an Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity. In Portugal, the representative community of this heritage is the city of Tavira, but it is showing growing recognition at the national and international levels," the CCDR emphasised.
Over the years, the CCDR has contributed to the dissemination and preservation of this heritage, promoting "broad partnership work" with partners from the areas of Regional Development, Culture, and Agriculture. These initiatives are part of the program for the 11th edition of the Mediterranean Diet Fair, which Tavira will host from Thursday to Sunday.
