Silva, 316th ATP, beat Sousa, 106th, by 6-1 and 6-2, in a match that lasted an hour.
The triumph over Sousa, who on Sunday won his sixth challenger tournament in Blois (France), allowed Silva to qualify for the quarter-finals in Milan, where he is to face Serbia’s Danilo Petrovic, 285th ATP, on Friday.
