The action by Portuguese nurses is mostly centred around the fact that while most civil servants have seen their working weeks cut from 40 to 35 hours, many nurses are still clocking in for eight hours a day.
Nurses union leader José Carlos Martins explained that the action is being planned for next week, starting on 9 August will last for four days until 12 August.
The initial action will only focus on the Portuguese Oncology Institute in Coimbra, the Figueira da Foz Hospital and the Algarve Hospitals at Portimão and Faro.
